Paper Doll

"Paper Doll" is painted in oil on vintage wallpaper adhered to archival foam core. Paper dolls were a large part of my play as a child, I bought them and made them, but never really played with them. I didn't create stories with them or act out imaginings, I just liked to cut them out, the  look, the fashion was the most important thing. What they could do, or what I could do with them never really entered in to it. This painting represents that concept writ into human form. The girl is real, but still the only thing that matters is the look, she is decorative before anything.
